During the 2020/21 season, Hebburn Town competed in the Northern League Division One. Despite the campaign being curtailed due to COVID‑19, they were enjoying strong form—sitting comfortably near the top of the table when matches were abandoned, underpinned by a standout run that included a notable 9–0 victory over Penrith.
 
The following 2021/22 season marked Hebburn’s debut in the newly expanded Northern Premier League Division One East, after earning promotion via a points-per-game decision. They finished 13th of 19 teams, ending with 42 points from 36 matches—an impressive result for a newly promoted side acclimatising to Step 4 football.
